BEARDED COLLIE CLUB OF SCOTLAND –1st OCTOBER 2011
The Bearded Collie Club of Scotland held their Championship Show at Lanark where BIS was Ch Gillaber Balnacarra at Aliskye, RBIS Diotima from the Heart for Gildenmede, BP Pipadene Undercover Agent and BV Ch Kyleca Spring Breeze.
Many thanks to the exhibitors for such a good entry at this friendly show. I appreciated the large ring but unfortunately as the day went on the mats got rather slippy in places and this undoubtedly affected some dogs and handlers on the move.
I was pleased with my class winners although I did feel that depth of quality was lacking in the mid range classes. Since I last judged hind movement seems to have deteriorated and many were not sound moving away or lacked drive, often this was not helped by poor muscle tone and more exercise would help to improve matters! On the plus side temperaments were generally excellent and I found very few mouth faults.
MPD (5,0abs) 1. Duncans Ciopar Rangers Rascal. Well grown 9 months dark slate, good head developing and good strength of muzzle, lovely dark eyes. Length of back from well shaped ribs of good length and depth. Well angulated shoulders and nicely angulated rear. Moved out confidently and with an easy manner. 2. Wildings Bendale Extra Special. Just a baby at 6 months, brown with nice head and lovely expression with good eye colour. Needs to lengthen but that will come with age. He had well shaped ribs of good length and balanced angulation front and rear, moved out well. 3. Welchs Reaosh Concerto. 6 months rich brown puppy. Lovely outline standing, really good head with correct eye colour, nice front extension, very sympathetically handled by his young handler, he moved better the more he went but just preferred the overall balance of 1 & 2
PD (7,0) 1. Betts Pipadene Undercover Agent. 10 months brown, not the biggest of boys but still masculine. Good head with flat skull and strength of muzzle. Eye tones nicely with coat. Good depth and length of rib, well laid shoulders and good rear angulation to match, moved out well and really liked his overall balance. BPIS 2. C. Rangers Rascal. 3. B. Extra Special
JD (7, 1) 1. Handleys Bargemon Baryshnikov. 13 months slate, loved his overall proportions, good head and pigment, eye tones nicely with coat, well angulated front and rear and well shaped ribs of good depth and length. A really fluid mover who covers the ground with reachy strides, pushed hard for the RCC - I am sure his day will come. 2.Barleys Runival Winter Storm. 17 months slate going through the coat change. Good head developing with dark eyes and melting expression. Well shaped ribs of good length. Good front and rear angulation, another who covered the ground well but just not quite so scopy as 1 today. He needs to fill out and mature but he is one I will watch with interest. 3. Strong head with broad flat skull and strength of underjaw. Coat of good texture but rather profuse at the moment which spoils his outline. OK for front and rear angulation but was not concentrating on the move.
