The Bearded Collie Club of Scotland Open Show – Saurday 22nd June 2024 Judge: Imke Groenier (Braemoor) DOGS: SPECIAL VINTAGE DOG - 2 (1 abs) 1st - Handley’s Invercoyle Caperdonich at Barkenbear VW 10yo blue boy of correct size and substance. Masculine head with a nice broad and flat skull, eye tones with coat. Well angulated front and rear, good fore-chest & depth of chest. Correct length to height proportions. Moved out well. He does not show his age and is presented in fit and well-muscled condition, with a typical well-textured coat. VETERAN DOG - 5 (1 abs) 1st - Robertson’s Arranbrae Laird of Quothquan JW 8yo masculine dog that presents a stunning outline. Masculine head of good proportions. Well laid shoulder, good fore-chest, and depth, shape & length of rib. A well-proportioned and constructed dog that moved out well, keeping his strong level topline. In super lean condition, I wouldn’t mind a little more flesh on his ribs. BVIS. 2nd - Savage & McLean’s Talraz Comic Relief at Canaich JW 7yo boy with a correct head, darkest of eyes giving him a kind and melting expression. Good length to height ratio, well-angulated front & rear, level topline. Really comes into his own on the move showing good reach and drive. 3rd - Delaney’s Sp/ UK Ch Arranbrae Muy Guapo JW litter brother to 1, and much the same comments apply. He is a very masculine, well-proportioned and constructed dog in great overall condition, but he just didn’t show the reach and drive on the move that 1 & 2 did. MINOR PUPPY DOG - (no entries) PUPPY DOG - (no entries) JUNIOR DOG - 1 (1 abs) YEARLING DOG - (no entries) NOVICE DOG - (no entries) GRADUATE DOG - 1 (0) 1st - Cox’s Braesnobel Salt N’Pepper for Coirantee nearly 3yo youngster that still has some maturing to do. Was unfortunate to come into the ring just as a number of loud motorcycles drove by, but he settled down after moving around the ring. Nice size & substance. Correct head & eye colour. Shows a lovely outline with correct length to height proportions. Well angulated front & rear and good depth of chest. Once settled he showed good reach and drive on the move. POST GRADUATE DOG - 3 (1 abs) 1st - Moir’s Winaria Wellington JW A masculine boy of a slightly smaller size, good head with dark eye, presents a lovely outline with excellent length to height proportions. So correct from his nose to the tip of his tail. Well laid back shoulder, correct depth, length & shape of rib, but what mostly sets him apart is his light-footed reachy movement. At 2 years old he is not quite the finished article, but already a contender for top honours. RBD 2nd - Ryan’s Dychix Invictus for Razkal 4yo old-fashioned type of good size & substance. Correct length to height ratio. Head of correct proportions with typical beardie expression. Would like a little more depth of chest and length of rib. Showed good extension on the move and moved true coming and going, just very unlucky to meet 1 today. LIMIT DOG - 3 (0) 1st - Handley’s Bargemon Brigadoon at Barkenbear JW 3yo masculine dog of correct proportions. Good head with kind expression from dark eyes. Well-constructed throughout with excellent depth and length of rib. When settled he moved well showing good reach & drive. 2nd - Kuz’s Duncannas Special Edition at Strufingill JW nearly 6yo slightly smaller dog of correct proportions. Good head & expression. Would like a little more layback of shoulder. He is a balanced and settled mover, but could show a little more reach in front. 3rd - Ayrton’s Aoibh Drummer Boy JW 3 yo of correct proportions, good head & expression. I would prefer a little more layback of shoulder, and more fore-chest and depth of chest. Overall he is a balanced dog and was very settled on the move. OPEN DOG - 3 (0) 1st - Peart’s Kilfinan Mister Moonlight for Talluarchy 5 yo understated masculine dog of correct size and substance that oozes quality. Strong masculine head with broad & flat skull, strong muzzle & good eye. Correct length to height proportions, well-shaped rib, good depth of chest. So well put together and complemented by a harsh, well-textured coat. He has the look, feel and movement of a dog that could work all day. It is his workmanlike qualities, unexaggerated appearance, and his easy ground covering movement without any wasted energy that won him his class, best dog and best in show today. BD & BIS 2nd - Gill & Hosie’s Burnhock Superior Diamond for Gillaber 4yo dog of correct proportions. Good head & expression, eye colour toning with coat. Good depth of chest and shape of rib. Balanced throughout, moved out well but could not match 1 on the move today. 3rd - Goodbrand’s Braesnobel Looney Tunes ShCEx 5yo of good size & substance. Correct head & expression. Good length to height ratio. Correct depth of chest and good fore-chest. He is a balanced mover but does not have the extension of 1 & 2. MINOR PUPPY BITCH - (no entries) PUPPY BITCH - (no entries) JUNIOR BITCH - 2 (0) 1st - Harcourt-Brown’s Orora’s Pearly Princess 15 month old feminine girl that caught my eye right away. Correct head and good eye colour. Excellent length to height proportions, well laid back shoulder, well angulated front & rear. So well-constructed throughout with excellent depth, length & shape of rib. As to be expected at her age she needs more maturity both in looks & temperament, she is very happy and excitable and makes her owner work hard to get the best out of her. Once she settles on the move she is an absolute joy to watch, covering the ground with long easy strides, not overdone in any way. RBB 2nd - Johnston’s Corimist Glimmer of Rye another eye-catching, well-proportioned girl of just 12 months old. Shown & groomed to perfection. Correct head with sweet expression.
