BEARDED COLLIE CLUB OF SCOTLAND – Summer Open Show
Saturday, 25 June 2010
JUDGE ~ Ellen Sullivan (Navillus)

I would like to thank everyone who voted for me to judge my first Breed Club Open Show; it was a memorable experience and a pleasure to judge at such a beautiful location. Thanks also go to the exhibitors who attended on the day and the Committee for making me feel so welcome and cared for.

Mouths were good, with a few exceptions, and all exhibits were well presented, however, some coats were excessively long. In some cases, I was splitting hairs when making decisions; on the other hand some decisions were made easier by the lack of muscletone; as there were several overweight dogs, this didn’t really come as a surprise to me.

On the whole temperaments appeared good, with little sign of nervousness, and no signs of aggression.

Special Vintage Dog (1)
1 Aughey’s Aughenaird Clyde’s Double. 12 year old dark slate with nice dark eye and good shoulder angulation. Moved ok, but not at his best today.

Veteran Dog (4:3)
1 Buchanan-Hislop’s Ch Ciopar Celtic Razzle’s Boy JW. Eight year old slate with a lovely coat of correct texture; not over done. Well made dog with a good head, eye, neck, shoulder and rib. Overall a very balanced dog of correct length to height proportions, who was well muscled and moved with purpose, covering plenty of ground. Despite standing alone well deserved his first prize and subsequent BVIS.

Puppy Dog (1)
1 Moffat’s Nickelby’s Tailor Made for Kyleca (Imp Swe). Slate of 11 months old. Long, lean well made dog with nice head, good shoulder, upper arm and rib. With rear angulation matching with front he moved with ease when settled. Could have watched him move all day. BPD/BOSP/RBPIS.

Junior Dog (2:0)
1 Armour/Fletcher’s Talraz Trail Blazer. Slate of just over one year old. Balanced head, nice expression, deep chest, balanced throughout. Won this class on his smoother movement.
2 Fullerton/Gibson’s Bustroc Killicrankie. 15 month old slate. Another with a nice head and expression. Well balanced, but not as settled on the move as 1.

Yearling Dog (2)
1 Bustroc Killicrankie. Moved much better in this class.
2 Aughey’s Lochbarra Dark Shadow for Aughenaird. Slate of almost two years. Good head eye and rib, well muscled. Moved well.

Maiden Dog (1)
1 Nickelby’s Tailor Made for Kyleca (Imp Swe). Much more settled in this class.

Novice Dog (3)
1 Nickelby’s Tailor Made for Kyleca (Imp Swe)
2 Bustroc Killicrankie
3 Stott’s Gillaber Ballindalloch

Debutant Dog (1)
1 Gillaber Ballindalloch. Brown; just over two years of age. Pleasing head, good pigment and eye colour, lovely coat colour of good texture. Not relaxed here today, which showed in his movement.

Undergraduate Dog (4:0)
1 Gill/Cook’s Gillaber Ballater. Dark slate, just over two years of age. Good head with nice eye giving pleasing expression, good spring of rib. Balanced dog who moved well to take this class.
2 Peart’s Gillaber Ballachulish for Talluarchy. Slate dog, litter brother to 1. Similar in type, just didn’t move as well as his sibling.
3 Lochbarra Dark Shadow for Aughenaird
4 Gillaber Ballindalloch

Graduate Dog (1)
1 Gibb’s Dychix Captain Jack JW. Dark slate, just over two years of age.. Good head and eye, well muscled neck into correct lay of shoulders. Would like a longer rib, but overall a very balanced dog of pleasing shape, who moved with reach and drive.

Post Graduate Dog (3:1)
1 Drummond/Forrest’s Kiltondale Mid-Knight. Very handsome, alert, dark slate, just over three years of age, who was not overdone in any way. Broad flat skull, good eye colour. Moderate, slightly arched and well muscled neck. Presented a nice shape, with good length to height ratio, good topline both moving and standing. Moved with plenty of reach and drive. BD/BOS.
2 Cunningham’s Bustroc Tam O’Shanter. Three year old slate with good head and eye, but not as balanced as the winner.

Limit Dog (5:0)
1 Gill/Cook’s Ramsgrove Homeward Bound to Gillaber. Four year old blue in good coat of correct texture. Eye toning with coat, balanced head. Well sprung rib, and balanced fore and aft. Maintained a good topline both standing and on the move, but not quite the reach of some of the other class winners.
2 Bustroc Tam O’Shanter
3 Paterson’s Gallus Absolute Quality
4 Rudd’s Lubin’s Dignity

Open Dog (4:1)
1 Paterson’s Ciopar Just The Ticket at Gallus JW. Five year old slate with broad flat balanced skull, with nice eye. Overall a dog of pleasing shape who had good muscletone and moved with reach and drive from his balanced angulation. Not the coat of some of the other winners at the moment, but well deserved his win.
2 Lattimer’s Ir Ch Coalacre Alexandrite. Brown of nearly four years of age. Good head, eye, expression and coat. Not the reach and drive of the winner, but moved smoothly.
3 Stott’s Mobuff Kashmir

Special Vintage Bitch (2)
1 Paterson’s Gallus Drop Dead Gorgeous. Almost 13 years old and slate. Well muscled and in good coat. Nice head and eye, moved well. BSV.
2 Buchanan-Hislop’s Arranbrae Just Maybe JW. Slate of almost 12 years. Pleasing eye and expression, good head. Steady mover.

Veteran Bitch (3:1)
1 Ballantyne/Burns’ Ch Bustroc Ae Fond Kiss. Brown, just over eight years of age. Balanced head, good eye colour, neck and shoulder angulation. In good coat and well muscled. More balanced in angulation than 2, she moved well covering plenty of ground.
2 Partridge’s Bumbleridge Queen’s Quaiche for Barobrae. Another brown of almost eight years, with lovely coat and dark eye in nicely shaped head. Not quite the reach of 1, but moved well.

Minor Puppy Bitch (3)
Three lovely puppies who I am sure will change places on a regular basis. First and second just a little more together than third at this time, but she’ll have her day too, I’m sure.
1 Durrant’s Pattishawl I Have A Dream at Brathens. Blue of almost nine months. Balanced throughout and very similar to 2. Nice head and neck with good shoulder angulation, nice length of rib and short loin, neat hocks. Slightly better balanced than 2 at the moment, she moved with purpose showing good reach and drive. BPB/BPIS.
2 McClymont’s Reaosh Deep Purple In Rock. Another blue of six and a half months old with a nice head, neck and good shoulder angulation. Moved well.
3 Drummond/Forrest’s Kiltondale Roxette

Puppy Bitch (3)
1 Pattishawl I Have A Dream at Brathens
2 Reaosh Deep Purple In Rock
3 Kiltondale Roxette

Junior Bitch (2)
1 Jay’s Talraz Sweet Honey. Slate, just out of puppy. Good head, eye and length neck, which was nicely muscled. Correct spring of rib, balanced angulation, and overall shape. She moved with purpose, covering the ground well.
2 Evans’ Bustroc Poosie Nansie. Another slate a little over 15 months who covered the ground well. Good head and eye, nicely muscled neck. Just preferred the rear movement of 1.

Yearling Bitch (2)
1 Gault’s Lochbarra Maid By Moonlight JW. Almost two year old slate, slightly longer in rib and better balanced than 2. Moved well, but would have liked more animation.
2 Bustroc Poosie Nansie

Maiden Bitch (3)
1 Pattishawl I Have A Dream at Brathens
2 Reaosh Deep Purple In Rock
3 Kiltondale Roxette

Novice Bitch (4:0)
1 Reaosh Deep Purple In Rock
2 Delaney’s Duncannas Classy Lassie of Arranbrae. Just over two years old slate. Moved well, but not the reach and drive of 1.
3 Kiltondale Roxette

Debutant Bitch (6:0)
1 Reaosh Deep Purple In Rock
2 Talraz Sweet Honey
3 Bustroc Poosie Nansie
4 Duncannas Classy Lassie of Arranbrae

Undergraduate Bitch (3)
1 Lochbarra Maid By Moonlight JW
2 Talraz Sweet Honey
3 Duncan’s Duncannas Tammy She’s The One

Graduate Bitch (5:3)
1 Hosie’s Gillaber Balnacara at Aliskye JW. Slate of just over two years of age. Presented a lovely picture both standing and moving. Strongly made bitch with good length to height ratio, overall shape and good muscletone throughout. Balanced head, dark eyes, bright enquiring expression. Nicely muscled neck into well laid shoulder, nice length of upper arm and good spring of rib; well set tail. Front and rear angulation in harmony, well muscled with good second thighs, and neat little hocks. In good coat of correct texture, showing plenty of daylight under the body, she flowed around the ring and I could not deny her BB, and ultimately a very well deserved BIS.
2 Peart’s Mostonbrae Angel Of Peace for Talluarchy. Almost four years slate with good head and eye, and balanced angulation. Just hadn’t got the reach and drive of 1.

`Post Graduate Bitch (5:4)
1 Rudd’s Bendale Lavender Blue at Lubin. Blue of almost three years. Balanced head and eye toning with coat, which was of correct texture. Nice length to height ratio, Overall a nicely balanced bitch with good spring of rib. Moved well. Stood alone, but deserved her red card.

Limit Bitch (4:2)
1 Clancey’s Talraz Innovation. Five year old slate. Another who moved with reach and drive and looked like she could go all day. Lovely head and eye, nicely muscled neck into correct lay of shoulder, with nice length of upper arm. Good length to height ratio; nicely shaped and well sprung rib; good bend of stifle. A strongly made bitch who was balanced throughout and she moved very well but couldn’t quite match the movement of the BB in the challenge. RBB/RBIS.
2 Atkins’ Labooshar Stop Her On Sight. Slate of seven years of age who has a good eye colour giving lovely expression. Overall a nice shape and moved well, but not quite as balanced as 1.

Open Bitch (6:1)
1 Buchanan-Hislop’s Ciopar Celtic Chancer. Three year old slate in good coat of lovely texture. Good eye, toning with her coat, in nicely balanced head. Good shoulder, upper arm, nicely shaped rib of good length. Another who presented a good picture both sanding and moving; she moved with reach and drive borne of balanced angulation. Splitting hairs between 1 and 2.
2 Jemmett’s Ch Westbere Whisper JW ShCM. Slate of almost four years. Good eye colour, lovely expression, good quality coat. Balanced angulation fore and aft. Have always liked this bitch, but she wasn’t moving with the animation of 1 here today.
3 Paterson’s Gallus Living The Dream
4 Gault’s Ch Osmart Maid In Black By Sioux for Lochbarra JW

Special Working Dog/Bitch (3:1)
1 Talraz Innovation
2 Mobuff Kashmir. Seven year old slate. Old fashioned type with good head
and eye. Moved well, but not the reach and drive of 1.

Brace (2)
1 Gault’s slates, moved in harmony with each other and didn’t put a paw wrong! Well done.
2 Rudd’s slate and brown, not as together as the winners, but keep practicing.

Progeny (1:1)
