JUDGE ~ Ellen Sullivan (Navillus)
I would like to thank everyone who voted for me to judge my first Breed Club Open Show; it was a memorable experience and a pleasure to judge at such a beautiful location. Thanks also go to the exhibitors who attended on the day and the Committee for making me feel so welcome and cared for.
Mouths were good, with a few exceptions, and all exhibits were well presented, however, some coats were excessively long. In some cases, I was splitting hairs when making decisions; on the other hand some decisions were made easier by the lack of muscletone; as there were several overweight dogs, this didn’t really come as a surprise to me.
On the whole temperaments appeared good, with little sign of nervousness, and no signs of aggression.
Special Vintage Dog (1)
1 Aughey’s Aughenaird Clyde’s Double. 12 year old dark slate with nice dark eye and good shoulder angulation. Moved ok, but not at his best today.
Veteran Dog (4:3)
1 Buchanan-Hislop’s Ch Ciopar Celtic Razzle’s Boy JW. Eight year old slate with a lovely coat of correct texture; not over done. Well made dog with a good head, eye, neck, shoulder and rib. Overall a very balanced dog of correct length to height proportions, who was well muscled and moved with purpose, covering plenty of ground. Despite standing alone well deserved his first prize and subsequent BVIS.
Puppy Dog (1)
1 Moffat’s Nickelby’s Tailor Made for Kyleca (Imp Swe). Slate of 11 months old. Long, lean well made dog with nice head, good shoulder, upper arm and rib. With rear angulation matching with front he moved with ease when settled. Could have watched him move all day. BPD/BOSP/RBPIS.
Junior Dog (2:0)
1 Armour/Fletcher’s Talraz Trail Blazer. Slate of just over one year old. Balanced head, nice expression, deep chest, balanced throughout. Won this class on his smoother movement.
2 Fullerton/Gibson’s Bustroc Killicrankie. 15 month old slate. Another with a nice head and expression. Well balanced, but not as settled on the move as 1.

Minor Puppy Bitch (3)
Three lovely puppies who I am sure will change places on a regular basis. First and second just a little more together than third at this time, but she’ll have her day too, I’m sure.
1 Durrant’s Pattishawl I Have A Dream at Brathens. Blue of almost nine months. Balanced throughout and very similar to 2. Nice head and neck with good shoulder angulation, nice length of rib and short loin, neat hocks. Slightly better balanced than 2 at the moment, she moved with purpose showing good reach and drive. 1 Hosie’s Gillaber Balnacara at Aliskye JW. Slate of just over two years of age. Presented a lovely picture both standing and moving. Strongly made bitch with good length to height ratio, overall shape and good muscletone throughout. Balanced head, dark eyes, bright enquiring expression. Nicely muscled neck into well laid shoulder, nice length of upper arm and good spring of rib; well set tail. Front and rear angulation in harmony, well muscled with good second thighs, and neat little hocks. In good coat of correct texture, showing plenty of daylight under the body, she flowed around the ring and I could not deny her BB, and ultimately a very well deserved BIS.
2 Peart’s Mostonbrae Angel Of Peace for Talluarchy. Almost four years slate with good head and eye, and balanced angulation. Just hadn’t got the reach and drive of 1.

Lovely head and eye, nicely muscled neck into correct lay of shoulder, with nice length of upper arm. Good length to height ratio; nicely shaped and well sprung rib; good bend of stifle. A strongly made bitch who was balanced throughout and she moved very well but couldn’t quite match the movement of the BB in the challenge. RBB/RBIS.

Splitting hairs between 1 and 2.

Special Working Dog/Bitch (3:1)
1 Talraz Innovation
2 Mobuff Kashmir. Seven year old slate. Old fashioned type with good head
and eye. Moved well, but not the reach and drive of 1.
Brace (2)
1 Gault’s slates, moved in harmony with each other and didn’t put a paw wrong! Well done.
2 Rudd’s slate and brown, not as together as the winners, but keep practicing.
Progeny (1:1)
