Blue with a pleasing balanced head and good expression. Not quite the shoulder of 1, good length of back and moved out well.

Balanced slate dog, with a lovely head and eye. Good forehand and quarters, well ribbed, and moved out the best in this class. Good prospect.

2nd Broadridge & Muir’s Sallen Hector
Rich mahogany brown, old fashioned workmanlike Beardie, who has much to recommend on close inspection. A touch plain in head perhaps, good forehand and excellent ribbing and quarters, and balanced. His tail carriage detracts from the overall picture.

3rd Taylor’s Douglasdale Dream Magic
Brown, good in head and eye. Okay in front, and of good length. Moved fair, tail carriage detracts from overall picture.

Impressive masculine slate with an excellent head and expression. Well laid shoulder, good ribbing and quarters, of good length and moved out well with drive and precision. Shown in good quality coat. In the challenge, lost both his topline on the stack and precision in movement which cost him here. Res CC.

3rd Harcourt-Brown’s Ch Orora’s Mercury

2nd Edward’s Roxilyn Dark and Delectable
Most pleasing feminine head, and clean neck and shoulders. Good in body and quarters and overall balanced. Moved out well enough. Tail rather short and with no animation, and some trimming of her coat which detracted from the overall picture.

3rd Kirby’s Ciopar Ben Kilbreck
Slate , with a pleasing head and eye, well angulated shoulder and quarters. Not holding her topline which held her back here. Moved out well.

MLB (12 entries, 4 absent)
1st Gault’s Lochbarra Maid by Moonlight JW
An all quality slate bitch who epitomises the correlation between gait and structure. Her efficient effortless long stride is a joy to see. Soundness is the test of conformation in all breeds, and none more important than in a working dog. Not the most glamorous girl on the stack perhaps, but she is all Beardie, from her lovely head and expression, quality neck, excellent shoulder placement, ribs well back and well angulated quarters. Good in bone, and good legs and feet well padded. In good coat and order, and not overdone in any way. When she moves, she outshines the rest. Despite strong competition from her peers, and other promising youngsters, she won with a touch to spare. CC & BIS. I later discovered this win makes her up.

2nd Thorpe’s Merrythorpe Miss Sunshine
Reddish Fawn, lovely quality bitch with a super head and eye. Close up in conformation to 1, with excellent shoulder, ribbing and quarters, and shown in good coat. A touch lazy on the move which cost her, and not quite the muscle condition of 1.

3rd Hall’s Bargemon Boadicea JW
Reddish brown, close up to 2. Excellent head and eye, pleasing shoulder and quarters. In good coat. Just preferred length of body of 1 & 2. Moved out well. Completed a trio of quality bitches.

LB (11 entries, 3 absent)
1st Nicholls-Ward Bumbleridge’s Lacey Locket JW

Slate, with a most pleasing head and expression: excellent shoulder and quarters, and shown in good order. A touch shorter in body than 1. Moved out well.

3rd Walker’s Douglasdale Rose Angel
Feminine reddish brown, with a pleasing head. Excellent shoulder, well made quarters, good ribbing. Moved out well and shown in good order. A touch short in body. Close up to 2. Completed a trio of quality bitches.

OB (18 entries, 2 absent)
1st Harkin’s Ch Claudalla Jenny Wren JW SH.CM
Lovely quality slate, stylish and finished and shown in such good order and presentation. Scores well in head properties, is feminine, with excellent forehand, well made quarters and balanced throughout. An all quality girl who moved out very well. Close up in challenge. Reserve CC.

2nd Gilbert’s Athenburgh New Beginning
Slate – quality bitch with a most pleasing head and feminine expression. Well angulated, good ribbing. In good coat and order. Moved and showed well. Close up to1.

VB (10 entries, 6 absent)
1st Moffat’s Ch Kyleca Spring Breeze JW
Lovely blue with a very good head and eye. Excellent conformation and shown in good order. Moved out well with drive. Best Veteran Bitch, and Best Blue.

2nd Sichi’s Kiltondale Keepsake at Seachran
Blue – lovely type, good in head and well angulated shoulders and quarters. Ribs well back and has a super length of stride. Carrying too much weight to her disadvantage.

3rd Wood’s Osmart Sioux Bluberry Muffin
Blue, with a pleasing skull, good forehand and correct length of body. Close up to 2. Moved out well.

Sp Vintage Bitch (3 entries, 2 absent)
1st Ballantyne & Burns Ch Bustroc Ae Fond Kiss
