The Bearded Collie Club of Scotland Open Show – Saurday 2nd March 2024
Judge: Verity Rudd (Lubin)

Having always greatly enjoyed exhibiting with this club, I was excited to given the opportunity to judge today and I was not disappointed. Thank-you to the club for a well-run show, Dick for his kind stewarding and the exhibitors for their entries and taking my decisions with such sportsmanship. So many lovely exhibits creating some challenging choices for me.

DOGS:

SPECIAL VINTAGE DOG - 2 (1)
1st - Handley’s Invercoyle Caperdonich at Barkenbear VW
10 year old blue in superb body condition. His strongly made square head and muzzle was softened by his affectionate gaze. Good dentition. Good depth and length of rib. He held his topline throughout his exhibition and his front and rear angles made for a good ground covering movement.

VETERAN DOG - 3 (0)
1st - Robertson’s Arranbrae Laird of Quothquan JW
7 year old dark slate in superb condition throughout. Held his topline at all times and moved out well in reach and drive. Head square and a strong muzzle with good dentition. A particularly good point of chest which combined with depth and length of rib makes good room for the heart and lungs. Beautifully soft expression to finish a fine package.
2nd - Glasgow’s J.B. De Chester at Gallus (imp Fra)
9 year old blue also shown in great condition holding his topline on the move. Nice depth and length of rib. Good angles making for good movement. Another masculine head with good dentition and expression.
3rd - Gibb’s Ch Snikkles Bluebeard at Pirateer JW ShCM ShCEx VW
8 year old blue in good condition. Lovely square head with soft expression. Good angles, length and depth of rib not moving out as I know he can today.

MINOR PUPPY DOG - 1 (0)
1st - Salter’s Whole Lotta Love from Noonie Bears by Irisaddition (Imp Bel)
BPD. 8 month old black youngster showing lots of promise. Nice and loose at the moment on the move as I would expect from a puppy this age. Excellent point of chest and length of rib with depth also being very age appropriate. Good square head and dentition. His angles are nicely matched and he moved well holding his topline, thoroughly enjoying his day.

PUPPY DOG - 1 (0)
1st - Gibbs & Dungavell’s Debbeacol Devil in Disguise at Pirateer
12 month black exuberant puppy which is just what I like to see at this age. Good masculine head and dentition and a lovely expressive eye. Good length of rib and angles giving a good topline on the move when he was settled.

JUNIOR DOG - 1 (0)
1st - Harcourt-Brown’s Orora’s Himself
RBD. Just out of puppy and showing amazing potential. Rich brown boy in good coat superbly shown. Excellent angles and held his topline on the move as he floated round the ring. Masculine head and good dentition. Lovely arch of neck falling into his good shoulder and matching rear angles – one to watch, I believe.
