The Bearded Collie Club of Scotland
Open Show 24th June 2017

First my thanks to the Committee and Members of the BCC of S for inviting me to judge their open Show. My thanks also go to my excellent steward on the day Don Moir. Unfortunately, the weather was against us and judging had to take place indoors. Overall the temperament of the exhibits was very sound and the vast majority were in good physical condition. I think there were a number with insufficient front angulation and short upper leg leading to a lack of extension rather than this being solely due to the indoor ring.
That said there were number of excellent dogs exhibited and almost all had proper scissor bite.

DOGS

Very showy dark slate, lovely expression and dark eye matching coat. Strong head, proper shape and depth of rib with good length. Wasn’t as steady on the move today as I’ve seen him.
2. McLure’sDouglasdale Black Diamond

Junior Dog: 6 entries 2 absent
1. Delaney’s Arranbrae Muy Guapo
This young dog just exudes class and typifies everything I look for in a Beardie. He has an excellent length to height ratio, super top line, front and rear in balance and he exhibited proper extension and drive. His head is masculine with strong back of the skull and a dark eye matching his birth colour. His coat is going thru a pale stage at this time. Good fore-chest, excellent depth and shape of chest and good length of rib. I was pleased to award him BD and BOS his more mature half-sister beating him for RBiS.
2. Robertson’s Arranbrae Laird of Quothquan JW
Litter brother to the above and exhibits many of the same attributes. It was a very difficult decision between these two but I believe that on the day his brother had the edge on his front extension. He has an excellent head, correct length to height and good depth of chest. Balanced angles front and rear.
3. Ryan’s Dychix Samuel Whiskers with Razkal
13 month old dark slate, good head with strong muzzle. Excellent length of rib and good depth. Balanced angles front and rear. Moved out well.
