Bearded Collie Club Of Scotland Championship Show – 13th October 2018
Judge - Dr Peter Fox (Bushblades)

I was delighted to be invited to judge at this show by the members, having shown here many times. I thoroughly enjoyed my day with a nice big ring, excellent stewards and faultless organisation. In my main winners I was very pleased to find the balanced construction and ease of movement I look for. The unexaggerated Bearded Collie I look for though seems to be being replaced with larger, heavier made ones with incorrect rib shape and poor angulation particularly in front. That effortless, typical Beardie movement, with balanced extension front and rear, was sometimes hard to find, we must not lose it.

DOGS:

Minor Puppy Dog (1,0)
1st - Wolff's Viscount Brown Sera’s of Dog 4U
good head developing, nice eyes, good chest and correct rib shape. Extending well in front and back, with balance on the move. A lot to like about this young man who I hope matures well in the future. Alone but a deserved BPD.

Puppy Dog (1,0)
1st - Wolff's Viscount Brown Sera’s of Dog 4u

Junior Dog (6,0)
1st - Harcourt-Brown's Orora's The Emperor
nice head and eye, correctly shaped deep chest, with good length of rib for his overall proportions. Balanced front and rear angulation covered the ground easily. Another I shall watch with interest as he matures.
2nd - Patterson's Corimist All of the Stars at Fruindale
well-proportioned dog, good head and eyes. Deep chest, well angulated front. Moved well, I just preferred the front extension of 1 on the day.
3rd - Daly's Orora's Embelished
another well-proportioned dog, good head and chest. Balanced on the move. I would like a little more extension overall.

Yearling Dog (4,0)
1st - Lattimer's Beardie connections Quino (Imp Bel)
nice type, balanced head with dark eyes, Good chest and rib. Balanced front and rear angulation. Moved well.
2nd - Savage & McLean's Talraz Comic Relief at Canaich
lovely type, balanced head with dark eyes, Good chest and rib. Not quite the extension of 1 on the move which affected his overall balance.
3rd - Costello's Bradiba’s Brilliant Nutmeg Muffin at Calkylona (Imp Deu)
nice head and eye, deep chest, would prefer slightly more length of rib. Overextending a little behind, which affected his balance on the move.

Novice Dog (2,0)
1st - Daly's Orora's Embelished
2nd - Hinchliffe's Miner’s Lake Just For Me at Croftdale (Imp Deu)
would prefer a stronger head and darker eye. Good chest, more rear angulation than front, which affected his overall balance.

Debutant Dog (1,0)
1st - Leckenby's Kiltondale Amarillo Star
nice head and dark eye. Would prefer more length of rib for his proportions. Balanced angulation front and rear but needs more extension overall. Moved steadily when settled.

Graduate Dog (4,0)
1st - Robertson's Arranbrae Laird of Quothquan
good head and eye, deep chest, would prefer slightly more front angulation. Balanced mover.
2nd - Costello's Bradiba’s Brilliant Nutmeg Muffin at Calkylona (Imp Deu)
3rd - Hinchliffe's Pretty Bear Beautiful Bill at Croftdale (Imp Deu)
good head and eye, would prefer a little more front angulation and moving slightly wide coming. Good rear angulation but not quite the overall balance on the move I look for.

Post Graduate Dog (5,0)
1st - Henderson's Scalbeck Sirus Over Shorndene
masculine dog with a strong head and jaw, and dark eyes. Good neck onto well angulated front with good length of ribs. Rear angulation to balance front, coat developing nicely. Moved well when he settled with good overall balance. Another I liked a lot, his handler needs to keep pace with him to get the best out of him.Pushed hard in consideration for the Res CC.
2nd - Ryan & Black's Dychix Samuel Whiskers with Razkal
dark eyes, deep chest. Well angulated rear but not quite the angulation in the front. On the move slightly overextending behind which affected his overall balance.
3rd - Curry's Davankirk Bromley Main
nice head. I would prefer a deeper chest and another with a well angulated rear but not quite the front angulation to match, affecting his balance overall.

Mid Limit Dog (5,0)
1st - Henderson's Scalbeck Sirus Over Shorndene
2nd - Delaney's Arranbrae Muy Guapo JW
nicely balanced head, I would prefer a slightly darker eye though. Good chest. I preferred the front angulation and overall balance on the move of 1.
3rd - Gamble's Talraz Look to the Future at Capelaw
lovely head and dark eye. Good chest. Another who could have a little more front angulation and on the move pushing on behind which affected his overall balance.

Limit Dog (6,2)
1st - Buchanan-Hislop's Ciopar Celtic Little Bear
lovely unexaggerated male who did not disappoint on going over. Well-proportioned strong head with dark eyes. Well-constructed front with correct shape and depth of ribs, of good length. Excellent front and rear angulation giving him that ground covering movement. He had to be on form in the challenge in good company and I was very pleased to award him the RCC.
2nd - Nolan's Talraz Nuts in May
lovely dog. Good head with good pigment and dark eyes. Nice deep chest, balanced front and rear angulation. Covered the ground well with good balance in a strong class.
3rd - Gibb's Snikkles Bluebeard At Pirateer
lovely head and eye toning with coat. Good depth of chest although I would prefer a little more length of rib for his proportions. Another who could benefit from a little more front angulation. On the move he was pushing on behind which affected his overall balance.

Open Dog (5,2)
1st - Harcourt-Brown's Orora's Entertainer
a lovely dog of excellent type with a good head and eye colour. Well-constructed front with correct shape and depth of ribs. So well balanced overall, he covers the ground with that nice easy flowing action I look for. I could watch him all day. The correct coat completed the picture and in both the challenge and BIS he pulled out all the stops. Pleased to award him the CC and BIS.
2nd - Henderson's Scalbeck Sirus Over Shorndene
3rd - Edward's Just Brilliant For Roxilyn Smartness (Imp Pol)
nice head and pigmentation. Good chest. Not as balanced overall as 1 & 2. I would prefer more front extension. Moved steadily.

Veteran Dog (3,1)
1st - Handley's Ch Bargemon Baryshnikov at Barkenbear JW ShCM
one I have judged and liked before. A lovely unexagerated type, well proportioned head with dark eyes. Nicely constructed front with correct shape and depth of ribs, of good length. Effortless ground covering movement still showing the youngsters how to move. BVIS.
2nd - Handley's Bargemon Beauford Tourer at Barkenbear ShCM
nice head and eye matching coat. Good chest, I would prefer more length of rib for his proportions. More rear angulation than front, causing him to push on from behind moving which affected his overall balance.

Special Open Dog (4,1)
1st - Buchanan-Hislop's Ciopar Celtic Little Bear

nice eyes and well shaped chest although I would prefer slightly longer ribs. Another who just needed a little more front angulation to better balance her rear which affected her movement
